An Exciting Announcement from the Admin Awards
Being nominated for the Admin Awards is indeed a reason to celebrate – so we are.
Our mission at the Admin Awards has always been to celebrate the talents, achievements, and dedication of the Administrative Profession, to recognize and honor the people that show up every day to make their leaders and companies successful. We believe, given the unique nature of that job, Admins are indeed deserving of special recognition. For eleven years, this has been the North Star that guides us in every decision we make and keeps us committed to our mission.
We’ve always said that while the Admin Awards is a competition and considered the Administrative Profession’s highest honor, at its heart, it’s a celebration of every Administrative Professional who walks through our doors. However the reality is, while Finalists attend the Awards Gala alongside their leaders and coworkers, there is a larger and equally as deserving community that does not – our Nominees.
Here’s why that is. Historically, our independent panel of judges determined each year’s Finalists approximately six weeks before the Awards Gala. These Finalists represent a fraction of the Nominees in any given year which means for the majority of Nominees, this is, unfortunately, where their journey ends. Even though we emphasize that this is a city-wide celebration of all Admins – including Nominees, the reality is very few go on to experience the Admin Awards ‘Good as Gold’ celebration, which is where so much of the magic of our program happens.
This isn’t the way it should be. Nominees, like Finalists, deserve to be in the room, celebrated by their leaders and coworkers. The ‘Good as Gold Gala’ is often where Admins, for the first time in their careers, truly realize the significance of their chosen profession and the enormous contributions they make. Admins come away from the Awards Gala feeling valued, inspired and motivated to be an even better Administrator. We’re extremely proud of being a part of that profound realization.
So, with thoughtful guidance from our community of Admins and Executives from across the country we’ve made an exciting programmatic shift for the first time in our 11-year history.
We will now announce Finalists and Award Winners at the Good as Gold Gala. This shift enables us to be more inclusive and work together to truly celebrate all Nominees who earned special recognition from their leaders and coworkers.
The integrity of our program, and our time-honored traditions will remain intact:
- Unlike many other award programs, there will still be no fee for submitting a nomination so those dollars can be invested in attending the Good as Gold Awards Gala.
- Our independent Board of Judges who determine the top candidates in each award category, and their strict process, will stay in place.
- All Nominees (future Finalists and Award Winners) must be present at the Awards Gala to advance in the competition. Attendance by leaders and coworkers alongside their Nominee(s) is a significant element of the recognition experience for all.
- We will continue to celebrate every Admin who walks through our doors and deliver the five-star recognition experience we are nationally known for.
- We will continue to treat all attending Admins with years of service acknowledgements, high-value commemorative gifts and major prize drawings. Now all Nominees will be thoughtfully acknowledged throughout the evening, as well as those who advance to Finalist and Winner status.
We whole heartedly believe this shift will make a tremendous and positive difference for all participants and aligns more closely with our vision. Most importantly, it enables the business community to ensure their Admins know how much they are truly valued and appreciated!
As an Administrative Professional recently said after attending the Good as Gold Gala; “The Admin Awards is the best thing to ever happen to the Administrative Profession”. Not Finalists, not Winners but the profession. And we can’t wait to bring that experience to life for more deserving Admins than ever before; because they’re worth it.
With Excitement,
